Return Policy
We only accept return of product for skis that fall under our 1 year Manufacturer defect warranty. All other return requests, such as choosing the wrong length or model, are still a possibility if ample supply is available. For a special request return though we encourage our customers to call us directly since we are a very hands on company that always does our best to help our customers with any concern even if it falls outside of our typical policy.
Fat-ypus Ski Flex
Fat-ypus skis are known for their playful feel and versatile design. The flex pattern of our skis plays a vital role in achieving these attributes. Through careful material selection and ski construction, we’ve developed an even-feeling flex pattern from tip to tail in all of our products. When you flex a Fat-ypus ski in your hands or under your feet, you will appreciate a perfectly smooth progression from softness in the tips and tails to stiffness underfoot. This flex pattern allows the skis to be playful yet powerful when you need them to be and gives the skis a large “sweet spot”. We’ve tried to develop flex scales that articulate the precise flex rating of a given ski, but we found these representations to be so subjective that their accuracy varied from customer to customer. What we choose to present instead is a flex scale that references our products to one another. From our buttery parks skis to our big mountain chargers, we hope this tool helps you find the product that will best fit your needs. If you have any questions, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to help out in any way we can.
Binding mount position / Drill bit size
The Fat-ypus boot center line for binding mounts as indicated on the ski’s topsheet is typically about 4-5cm’s behind true ski center. It is placed at the point on the ski we feel allows for the most versatile performance. If you spend most of your time in the park you may want to go forward a couple cm’s. If you tele or spend most of your time in the backcountry you may want to go a cm or so back of the indicated line. The drill bit size for shops to use when mounting our skis is a 36(width)/95(depth).
Do we offer industry or pro rates?
Here at Fat-ypus we support industry employees as much as we can. As a result we offer discounted proform pricing on all our ski models to patrols, instructors and other industry professionals. If you fall into one of these categories and would like to purchase a pair of our skis at the discounted proform rate, please contact us via email or phone to do so.
Story behind the company name
The Fat-ypus company name came about as a result of prototyping our first ski model, the A-lotta, the original superfat in 2004. With a waist width of 140mm it quickly brought the word Fat to mind and with a tip and tail that looked like the bill and tail of a Platypus…..well the rest is history. We instantly loved this name as it represented some of our favorite beliefs-fat skis, fat powder days, and huck that fat cliff you big pus!
